Cráter del volcán de Santa Ana: análisis preliminar de dominancia y distribución de vegetación arbustiva y herbácea

Abstract

A 2000 x lOO mt. transect is delimited on the crater of Santa Ana Volcano (2300 m.a.s.l.). Random stratified plot sampling is applied on seven stands corresponding to different topographic levels on shrub and herbaceous vegetation in order to determine dominance using importance value index, based on relative frequency, density and cover area. Gaultcria odorata Wild (shrub) and Crusae calocephala D. C. (herb) are found dominant. Variation of height of shrub vegetation is ohserved changing with slopes and soil development. Preliminary data on microdimate and edaphic conditions are also reported.
