Resumen

El euro, desde su concepción como moneda unificada, adquirió un rol central en la economía global, sin embargo, se enfrenta a problemas estructurales de fondo resaltados por la literatura especializada y señalados por distintos economistas e instituciones, que ponen en juicio su eficiencia como unidad de reserva de valor, teniendo incidencia en desigualdades macroeconómicas, principalmente en crecimiento económico e inflación, extendiendo su influencia a economías fuera de la región, incluyendo Latinoamérica. Se presenta un estudio de la evolución del euro como reserva de valor y perspectivas para el manejo de su comportamiento a nivel de políticas en Latinoamérica.
