Abstract

Coral reefs are the most diverse marine ecosystems in the world. They are made up of small invertebrates that form calcium carbonate (CaCO3) exoskeletons, thus providing a wide variety of microhabitats and ecosystem services for diverse organisms. The conservation and protection of coral reefs is essential for the health of the oceans and the planet.
