Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) was a key methodology for optimizing the planning, design, construction, and operation of projects in the construction industry. In El Salvador, the adoption of BIM was at an early stage, limited by the absence of specialized training programs that addressed market needs. This study presented a proposed curriculum for a Master’s degree in Construction Technology using the BIM system, designed for the Graduate School of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the University of El Salvador. A descriptive research approach was employed to analyze potential demand, training requirements, and the technical and economic feasibility of the program. The results revealed strong acceptance of the program among surveyed professionals and employers, as well as the significance of its implementation in improving the competitiveness of the construction sector. Furthermore, key tools and methodologies such as Revit and Navisworks were identified, which strengthened the program’s practical orientation. This proposal aimed to position the University of El Salvador as a regional benchmark for advanced BIM training, fostering the modernization of the construction sector and contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
