Abstract

The work of Leopoldo Zea allows us to take place on the specifically latín american thinking, presupposing that the region has a particular history that influences on the forms and contents of philosophical products, ways ofassuminghistory, andways offacing reality. For Zea, the history of Latin America mean a crossroads about the emancipatory tasks of humanity: Latin America may -or may not- be the historical subject of liberation, it is historical praxis that will determine the direction ofthe continent. However, insofar as there is no assurance that this historical subject will assume his task of liberation - unlike the conception of other teleological philosophies- Latín America can only be seen as a possibility; the realization of that possibility is a task to be done
