WINDOW TO THE FACE REFLECTIONS ON THE SALVADORAN IDENTITY

Abstract

The article addresses the highly discussed topic in sociology and anthropology about the Salvadoran sociocultural identity, which, to be conceptually precise, must be defined as sociocultural identities. It starts from asking what a Salvadoran is, to unravel, example after example, all the aspects that this definition entails, going through the existential and theoretical problems in this regard. Now, the theoretical is approached from its practical vision to account for the identity essence and appearance, as well as the logical problem of identity, this logic being the one that has to do with the sociological position around how identity is defined and lived as masks, resources, common sense and daily life of the Salvadoran.
