Current situation of the curricular assessment of the master´s degrees constitutes the object of this study wich, at the same time, is part of a broader doctoral research concerning a model design for curricular evaluation of master programs. The diagnosis was supported by a descriptive research with an exploratory scope, implementing systematization and the simple case study as methods. The present article work out a general characterization of postgraduate studies in El Salvador; it also explores some aspects concerning master studies as part of postgraduate academic level and the legal norms that regulate its curricular assessment; the research ends analysing curricular assessment practices and process as they ocurr within the master program of Métodos y Técnicas de Investigación Social, which is offered in the Faculty of Science and Humanities.
