The objective of this review article is to analyze and describe inclusive pedagogical strategies applied in higher education, with a specific focus on the University of El Salvador (UES). It seeks to identify effective practices and pedagogical methods that promote the inclusion of students with disabilities, as well as address the training needs of faculty, the implementation of assistive technologies, and the adaptation of educational resources. Furthermore, it aims to discuss the challenges and opportunities for improving inclusive education within the UES university context and propose evidence-based recommendations to strengthen faculty development and promote an inclusive institutional culture. Method: This consisted of a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature on inclusive pedagogical strategies in higher education, with a specific focus on relevant studies, reviews, and documents related to the UES. A systematic review of academic articles, books, and other available educational resources was conducted to identify best practices and approaches that promote educational inclusion. Specific selection criteria were used to gather relevant information on curricular adaptations, assistive technologies, and teacher training needs in inclusive contexts. Results: The analysis indicates that inclusive pedagogical strategies at the University of El Salvador (UES) and other university settings can be significantly improved through ongoing teacher training in diversity and inclusion, the effective integration of assistive technologies to support the learning of students with disabilities, and the adaptation of educational resources to make them accessible to all students. Several challenges were identified, such as limited financial resources and resistance to change among some members of the academic community, but opportunities were also highlighted, such as growing awareness and international support for inclusive programs. In conclusion, this article underscores the crucial importance of implementing and strengthening inclusive pedagogical strategies at the UES and other higher education institutions. This not only benefits students with disabilities but also promotes a more equitable and accessible educational environment for all. Evidence-based recommendations, including ongoing teacher training and the creation of tailored educational resources, are essential for advancing toward an institutional culture that values and promotes inclusion. Overcoming the identified challenges and leveraging available opportunities will allow UES to significantly improve its capacity to offer quality higher education to all its students.
