Author Guidelines

As part of the submission process, authors must ensure that their manuscript meets the following requirements. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines will be returned.

1. Submission of articles

Articles must be submitted exclusively through the Open Journal System (OJS) of the Jiboa Journal, University of El Salvador: https://revistas.ues.edu.sv/index.php/rj-ues

Submissions by other methods, whether in print or by email, will not be accepted.

2. Editorial considerations

Once received, the manuscript will be reviewed by the Revista Jiboa Editorial Board (CE-Jiboa) based on the following criteria:

  • Style, content, and scientific originality.
  • Presentation and use of technical language relevant to the specific subject area.
  • Only unpublished articles will be considered for publication.
  • A single corresponding author must be designated.
  • The journal accepts scientific articles written in Spanish.
  • Authors must be listed in order of contribution, including their full name, institutional affiliation, email address, and ORCID iD.
  • CE-Jiboa reserves the right to accept, reject, or suggest revisions based on peer review.

Corrections:

Observations suggested by the peer reviewers must be addressed by the lead author within a maximum of one month. The revised manuscript must be resubmitted via the platform. In case of disagreement, the author may exercise their right to submit a written rebuttal, scientifically supporting their arguments.

External research:

National or international authors not affiliated with the University of El Salvador whose research has been funded must obtain publication authorization from the funding institution.

Legal responsibility:

Authors assume full responsibility for any authorship disputes or legal conflicts with third parties related to the published articles.

3. General format for the presentation of scientific articles

  • File format: OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect.
  • Maximum length: up to 8,000 words or 20 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
  • Text format:
    • Font: Times New Roman, 11-point, single line spacing.
    • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
    • Pagination: bottom right-hand corner.

4. Preparation of tables

  • Tables must comply with APA 7 standards.
  • Mandatory elements: table number, title, heading, body, and footnote (if applicable).
  • The title should be clear and simple.
  • Acronyms and abbreviations should follow recognized international technical standards or be explained in a footnote.
  • If the table occupies more than one page, repeat the heading on each additional page.
  • Landscape orientation may be used for exceptionally wide tables.

5. Figures

The following are considered figures: graphs, diagrams, maps, photographs, drawings, and illustrations.

  • Figures should follow APA 7 standards.
  • Required elements: figure number, title, image, caption, and note (if necessary).
  • Titles should be concise and explanatory.
  • Maps should include a proportional accurate graphic scale.
  • Photographs should be high resolution and submitted in JPG, PNG, or TIFF format.
