Article Review Process

All article proposals submitted to the Jiboa Journal are officially registered upon receipt, thus initiating a preliminary editorial review by the editorial team. The purpose of this initial phase is to verify that the document meets the basic criteria required to continue with the evaluation process.
The following aspects are considered during this stage:

  • Style, content and scientific contribution: the coherence of the writing style, the quality of the content and the originality of the contribution within the academic discipline field are examined.
  • Formal presentation and use of technical language: the general presentation of the manuscript and the pertinence of the technical language used are reviewed, seeking clarity and precision.
  • Originality: only unpublished articles are accepted, i.e., those that have not been previously published in any other publication outlet.
  • Structure and citation rules: it is validated that the text respects the structure established by the journal and adheres correctly to the bibliographic citation norms.

If any correctable issues are detected, the editorial team will send specific comments that must be addressed by the author within no more than one week.

Once this preliminary review is completed, the articles are submitted to a peer review process under the double-blind Arbitration System, which implies that both the authors and the evaluators remain anonymous. Peer reviewers may be national or international experts with proven knowledge in the corresponding area.

The peer reviewer will thoroughly analyze the manuscript, considering: the thematic relevance, pertinence of the theoretical and methodological approach, soundness of the analysis, presented results and the coherence between the proposed objectives and the conclusions reached.

Both the peer reviewer and the editorial team may make observations or suggestions for improvement to the text. In such a case, the author is expected to implement the requested adjustments within the established period, thus promoting a substantial improvement of the content and its adequacy to the journal's quality standards.

Throughout the process, the editorial team may communicate with the authors to resolve specific doubts and is also authorized to make minor style corrections if necessary. The official communication channel will be email.

The final decision on the acceptance or rejection of the article will be issued in writing by the Editorial Board. If the manuscript is approved, it will go to a final stage of editing and layout prior to its official publication in the journal.
