The Yoreme Mayo woman and cultural heritage in the context of the indigenous community of San Miguel Zapotitlán, Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico

In the north of Sinaloa, the community of San Miguel Zapotitlán is located, in the municipality of Ahome, Sinaloa, inhabited by the Yoreme Mayo ethnic group, who have presented great resistance to preserve their culture, traditions, ceremonial festivals and cultural heritage. material and immaterial. Women have a relevant role in their participation, they have shown interest in preserving their culture; Woman is an important pillar within the family nucleus, the influence she has on the construction of the identity of the family members offers possibilities for the preservation of cultural heritage. This research has a contribution to the social sciences, by offering visibility to the ethnic group, through the preservation of cultural heritage, as well as knowledge of cultural diversity, it is intended to communicate and transmit the characteristics of cultural heritage, through paper played by women within their ethnic group. The methodology applied in the study was carried out from in-depth interviews, original sources, documentary review of primary and secondary sources. In the study site, the traditional festivals in February 2020 and March 2021 are documented; during sacred ceremonies of lent, performed by the original settlers, which allows to recreate the role of women in traditional festivals. The study presents conclusions on the foundation of the role of women in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the study area, as well as the knowledge that indigenous women have regarding their culture, highlighting the importance of the preservation of cultural heritage, to give it visibility to native inhabitants.
