Abstract

This article seeks to recount the contribution of “TCU-605 Growing with Art”, since its creation by the Dramatic Arts School of the University of Costa Rica in 2011. The objective is to make known the development of this project with the purpose of identifying some of the contributions of art to the communities of Costa Rica. From the compilation of information on its different coordinations, activities and student participation, it reflects on its contribution. It addresses the particularities of the methodological approach of Art for Social Transformation, which allows the resignification of art from the political point of view. This in order to discuss the recreational or utilitarian vision of fine arts in culture, towards the recognition of community art and culture as incentives for citizen participation in decision-making by local authorities
