Abstract

Online Education in Higher Education: Incidence of COVID 19 and the exacerbation of digital gaps, is an effort to analyze and interpret the educational phenomenon from a local global perspective, which allowed identifying the main needs and challenges of the academic offer university in the virtual modality, the limited access to technological resources by the student body, the little application of various digital tools in virtual environments and the need to deepen the professionalization and continuing training of teaching in virtual education. Question that guided the study: What are the current conditions of Online Education in Higher Education, the Incidence of COVID 19 and the exacerbation of digital divides? The applied methodology was with a mixed approach, descriptive and interpretive; The Survey was used as an inquiry tool. The study allowed to identify the current conditions of Higher Education in the virtual modality; as well as the challenges in the creation of institutional technological capacity and the professionalization of higher education in the virtual modality, in order to overcome the main digital gaps.
