Abstract

This article makes a brief analysis of some of the speeches that were published in the United States during the first two decades of the twentieth century regarding the foreign policy of the White House and its impact on Latin America. An exceptional case was the voices emanating from different circles of opinion where the White House's neutral stance was criticized or justified by the revolutionary outbreak in Mexico. It was considered that the actions taken by the State Department in the neighboring country reflected not only an economic or social interest, but also a geopolitical one. This discussion was fueled by comparisons and examples that alluded to the differential treatment of US intervening action against Mexico in face of other political revolts in Latin America.
