Abstract

The research was carried out at the Refugio Salvaje, Foundation located  in the municipality of Jayaque, department of La Libertad, El Salvador,  lasting 24 weeks, during the months of April-October 2024. The purpose  was to determine the zoosanitary status of big cats (Panthera leo, P. onca,  P. tigris and P. pardus) kept under human care, through the following the  laboratory tests: complete blood count, blood biochemistry, blood smear,  rapid immunochromatography for detection of feline immunodeficiency  virus (FIV) or feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and coproparasitological  examination, which were processed at the Chivo Pets Veterinary Hospital.  The results were analyzed through summary tables since the research  was descriptive, the level of prevalence was estimated, no sampling was
carried out since 100% of the population was taken. It is concluded that  big cats suffer from subclinical mycoplasmosis due to their history of  living in semi-free living areas and being exposed to fleas.
