Ocean acidification: a worrying consequence of increased CO2 in the atmosphere
Keywords:
pH, fossil fuels, calcifying organisms, global warmingAbstract
Carbon is an essential element for life, it goes through a cycle of transformations between living beings, terrestrial and aquatic
environments and has a great impact on the planet’s climate; in which the ocean plays an important role. When it is altered, processes such as ocean acidification occur, which is characterized by the decrease in pH caused by an increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) dissolved in the water, which causes harmful effects on marine ecosystems.
