Why do lagoons age?

Lagoons have a short life span unlike other bodies of water and, although their aging can occur naturally due to phenomena such as eutrophication and accumulation of sediments, humans can further accelerate these processes, together with others that cause their deterioration through polluting activities, for example, the modification of the riverbed, agriculture, livestock, deforestation, among others, whose effect increases due to climate change which threatens to bury these bodies of water.
