The publication of the text comes at a time when the return of conservative right-wing and far-right governments seems to be setting a trend, as a result of the emergence of various crises, according to Strobl. The rise of such governments in some parts of the world threatens democracies under construction and has led to attempts to establish authoritarian governments, some of them fascist in nature, such as those of Trump in the United States, Sebastian Kurz in Austria, and, one might add, Bolsonaro in Brazil and Macri in Argentina, and currently the governments of Bukele in El Salvador and Milei in Argentina.
