Article Review Process

Article proposals submitted to Revista Derecho are acknowledged upon receipt, and the Editorial Board will initiate a preliminary editorial review to verify if the article meets the basic requirements:

  • Style, Content, and Scientific Novelty: The congruence of the style and content of the article will be assessed, as well as its contribution to scientific novelty in the legal discipline.
  • Presentation and Technical Language: A review will be conducted to confirm that the presentation meets established criteria and that the technical language used is appropriate and clear.
  • Originality: Only unpublished articles will be considered for publication, meaning they have not been previously published in other journals.
  • Structure and Citation Standards: It will be verified that the article follows the required structure and adheres to established citation and bibliographic reference standards.

The Editorial Board may establish preliminary observations (in case some elements are correctable), which must be addressed within a maximum of one week.

Articles that pass this initial filter are subjected to a peer review process, which is conducted under the double-blind peer review mode (where the reviewer does not know the author, and vice versa). The reviewer can be from El Salvador or international. In other words, during the evaluation, both the names of the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous, and the results of the evaluation are communicated within a maximum of one month.

The reviewer will determine if the article is relevant for publication in a journal on Legal Science. The peer reviewer will evaluate the article based on a set of criteria, which include relevance, pertinence, methodological approach, expected results, proper analysis and discussion, and coherence between conclusions and objectives.

The peer reviewer or the Editorial Board may provide feedback on the article. In this regard, authors must make the adjustments requested by the reviewers or the Editorial Board within the specified timeframe.

During this process, authors may be consulted by the Editorial Board to address any doubts or concerns. It is important to note that Aequus Editorial may make minor style corrections.

The final decision to publish or reject articles is communicated through a written notice by the Editorial Board. During the evaluation and editing process, email serves as the primary means of communication between authors and the Editorial Board.

If the article is accepted, the texts will undergo a final review by the Editorial Board for the corresponding layout.
