Author Guidelines

It is an essential requirement that, at the time of submission, articles comply with the parameters established by Aequus Editorial for Revista Derecho.

1. EXTENSIÓN

  • For academic articles, the length of the development should be between 15 pages (minimum) and 25 pages (maximum). The pages corresponding to the bibliography are not included in the extension.
  • Only in exceptional cases, the Editorial Board will authorize the publication of articles longer than what is established, depending on the relevance of the topic.

2. FORMAT

Articles should be written according to the following specifications:

  • Page: Letter
  • Font: Arial
  • Font Size: 11 Line
  • Spacing: 1.5 lines
  • Text Format: justified and without indentation (except for quotations longer than four lines)

3. ABSTRACT

  • Texts must be accompanied by an abstract in Spanish and its corresponding translation into English.
  • The length of the abstract should be between a minimum of 200 words and a maximum of 250 words.
  • The abstract should clearly and concisely reflect the content of the article, as well as its relevance. It should include the objectives, the scope of the study, the methodology applied (if applicable), and the conclusions.

4. KEYWORDS

  • Articles should include, at the end of the abstract, between 5 (minimum) and 10 (maximum) keywords.
  • These keywords should be specific and representative of the content of the article. Keywords should be in lowercase, except for acronyms or abbreviations.

5. FOOTNOTES

  • Footnotes will be used for placing bibliographic citations (according to the Chicago 16th Edition Style Manual), clarifications, or expansions of what is mentioned in the article's development.
  • In the case of clarifications or expansions, these should be brief and concise, not exceeding 150 words.
  • Footnotes should be in Arial font, size 9, with single line spacing (1.0).

6. BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES AND CITATIONS

There are different types of bibliographic citations that depend on how the text of the citation is transcribed: direct quotations and paraphrased quotations. Opinions taken from other authors and mentioned in a research paper must always be documented accurately, referencing the original source.

For Revista Derecho, the Chicago 16th Edition citation format will be used.

According to Chicago standards, citations should be made in any of the following cases:

  1. When copying a text verbatim: write the text in quotation marks and italics and cite the source in a footnote, including the page number cited.
  2. When paraphrasing a text: only cite the source in a footnote.

For further details on how to cite according to the Chicago 16th Edition citation format, Aequus Editorial has prepared a Usage Manual, which can be consulted at this link: Manual de Estilo Chicago.

7. TABLES

In case tables are included, they should contain their basic elements in the following order:

  • Table number
  • Title
  • Body
  • Footnote (self-prepared or based on another source).
