¿WHO IS IT FOR?
Mr./Ms. An Editor's or Letter to the Director is sufficient to start the letter with a simple, straightforward, and cordial greeting.
CONTENT OF THE MAIN TEXT
The letter should begin with a clear and explicit reference to the event that motivates it. If it is a previously published article in the journal, the full title, the journal name, and publication details should be indicated. The following paragraphs should communicate, discuss, or argue for or against the content of the publication, or include additional comments that the author wishes to make public regarding the reason for the letter, such as ideas, opinions, or reflections on the topic of interest or on medical and scientific issues. The letter should end with a concluding paragraph.
It is recommended that a letter to the editor be 1200 words (maximum). Including one figure and/or table is advisable, along with up to 10 bibliographic references that the author(s) consider relevant to support the main content.
If the letter presents original data, the main characteristics of the methodology used should be briefly summarized and explained, and the discussion should be presented in light of the data, with the reasoning provided by the research. However, it should be clarified that letters are not a lesser publication format that might be more readily accepted by the journal; on the contrary, they are of great importance in science education, and therefore the usual evaluation criteria are applied to ensure their quality. For this reason, if necessary, one or more experts on the subject may be consulted.
