Abstract

The University of El Salvador (UES) has established online education due to the Covid-19 pandemic and plans to continue some measures even after the situation is resolved in 2023. The UES aims to host international sporting events, meaning that online educational activities will be extended for a longer period. This study focuses on the expectations of new students in the Basic Sciences Unit (UCB) of the School of Medicine regarding virtual education in 2023. A questionnaire was used to gather information about the students' characteristics and their expectations of online education at UCB. The main obstacle identified by students is connectivity issues, despite having appropriate technology. They expressed a desire for in-person classes, labs, and other academic activities, but are open to virtual exams. The findings highlight the importance of addressing connectivity problems and balancing virtual and in-person learning experiences.
