Intellectual property policy

The academic and scientific texts published in La Universidad Magazine are protected under the CC BY NC 4.0 license, also known as "permissive" or "minimalist", these licenses authorize the free distribution and modification of the original work, they also allow derivative works introduce certain restrictions (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/deed.es). The author is the only one who owns the publication rights and La Universidad magazine owns the distribution rights.

 

 

Scientific evaluation policy

All scientific and academic materials will be subjected to an evaluation by the Editorial Board, which will be responsible for verifying that the texts meet the style and content criteria indicated in the publication guidelines. Likewise, it will be verified that these are works that have been subjected to high-quality scientific research processes.

Anti-plagiarism policy

The University Magazine expresses its commitment to respect and integrity of the published works. For this reason, plagiarism is not admissible and therefore works that are identified as plagiarism or whose content is spurious will be eliminated immediately. These criteria also apply to self-plagiarism. By agreeing to publish their works in our journal, the authors accept our expressed terms and agreements; Therefore, they must ensure in an affidavit letter that their materials are original and do not infringe copyright. In the case of shared authorship, there must be full consensus among all participants. The percentage of admitted plagiarism or self-plagiarism is 20 %.

 

Open access policy

The Magazine The University joins the Budapest Open Access initiative (Budapest Open Access Initiative - 2001). In such a way that the published materials are freely available online, so any user can read, download, copy, distribute, print and use the materials for any legal purpose without financial, legal or technical barriers according to the Creative Commons CC BY NC 4.0 license.

 

Privacy Policy

Names and email addresses entered in this magazine will be used exclusively for the purposes set out in this magazine and will not be provided to third parties or for use for other purposes.

 

Interoperability policy

All publications on the La Universidad Magazine portal incorporate interoperability protocols that allow their content to be collected by other distribution systems, such as digital repositories and harvesters. Journals published through OJS (Open Journals System 3.x) incorporate the OAI-PMH (Open Archive Initiative-Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interoperability protocol with the possibility of obtaining different formats for metadata.

 

Repository policy

La Universidad Magazine is committed to the conservation and preservation of its articles, in such a way that our website https://revistas.ues.edu.sv/index.php/launiversidad is developed in the open source program to manage and publish academic and scientific journals online, Open Journal Systems (OJS), developed by the Public Knowlede Project (PKP) whose initiative is to make available the results of public research freely available, through Open Access, with the contribution of the LOCKSS software that aims for long-term digital preservation.

La Universidad Magazine, in accordance with the Open Access initiative, makes the metadata of its articles available, in such a way that the collection of content is allowed for inclusion in any other digital archive.

 

Digital preservation policy

La Universidad Magazine legitimizes the value of digitally preserving its archives and verifying their permanent availability in long-term open access, with the purpose of putting into practice the digital preservation policy that ensures uninterrupted access to its articles. The system used is PKP PN (Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network) where the contents are deposited and archived in LOCKSS and thus their continuous availability is guaranteed.

 

Plagiarism detection policy

La Universidad Magazine publishes original content, for this reason, the works undergo exhaustive reviews in order to detect plagiarism or self-plagiarism:

The works sent to the magazine go through the following processes:

Review of the sworn letter where the authors declare that their article is original and undertake not to commit plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
The Editorial Committee will subject the contents to different plagiarism tools (Quetext, Plag, Duplicheker, Google, Bing, Plagiarisma, Copyleaks, etc.) in order to identify serious violations of intellectual property (erroneous citations, inadequate paraphrasing or minor modifications of a previously published work.

In the case of finding plagiarism or self-plagiarism, the work will be rejected, so it is recommended to consult the ethical criteria instilled by the COPE regulation https://publicationethics.org/ and the Code of Ethics of La Universidad Magazine. The percentage of plagiarism/self-plagiarism or similarity accepted by the journal is 20 %.

 

Self-Archiving Policy

The Journal The University practices an archiving policy where authors have the freedom to archive the post-print version of their article (version evaluated, reviewed and published by the journal) in different types of repositories or electronic media, under the conditions of the CC BY NC 4.0 license https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/deed.es recommending that reference be made to the first publication in La Universidad Magazine.
