Nota editorial.
Editorial note. This work of Monsignor Vicenzo Paglia, the Postulator of the Cause for the Sanctification of Monsignor Romero, sent exclusively from Vatican City to the magazine "The University", addresses the reasons why he is declared Holy by the Catholic Church to Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero as of October 14, 2018. The essay highlights his role as defender civitates, at the service of the Gospel and of the Church, following the tradition of the Founding Fathers of the Church, which tragically led to his murder and martyrdom, when he officiated the Holy Mass, on March 24, 1980. His death, considered as an act of "hatred of faith", while officiating the Eucharist, constitutes an act of transubstantiation and transcendence of the role of a pastor of the faith to the role of the universal symbol of justice, freedom, peace and democracy of an entire people.
