Salarios mínimos y empleo en El Salvador. Aspectos a tomar en cuenta en la formulación de políticas públicas

The International Monetary Fund recommended that the government of El Salvador avoid increases in minimum wages and focus attention on private investment. However, according to the studies of the Central Reserve Bank, the increases made to minimum wages in 2016 have coincided with improvements in economic growth, private investment and employment, in addition to maintaining controlled inflation. This article analyzes the Salvadoran labor market, taking into account the changes produced from the minimum wage increases,and the characteristics presented by the formal and informal sectors.
