En nuestro citado artículo, expusimos la vida de Safo muy someramente, pero lo que dijimos, es lo consignado en la historia; mas ya que el señor de Icaza sale á la palestra para negarlo, dispuestos estamos á probarle nuestro aserto, apoyados en los testimonios de célebres y sinceros historiadores, y aún en las mismas producciones de aquella distinguida poetisa “tan laureada por el genio;” haciéndole presente, que tenemos á mucha honra discutir por la prensa asunto de tanta trascendencia con un escritor tan ilustrado como lo es él.
