Literature is science because it has disciplines and methods of literary analysis. Among the disciplines is literary criticism that makes value judgments about the texts it analyzes. In this sense, literary criticism is based on semiology, which studies meanings. These are the fundamental themes that this manuscript addresses, making clear the concepts to study literature, using the theoretical postulates of specialists such as Saussure, Lukács, among others.
