Abstract

La conferencia que sigue fue pronunciada por Sarbelio Navarrete en la apertura de la Universidad de El Salvador, el 15 de febrero de 1934, cuando todavía no era rector. Sin embargo, el docente de la Facultad de Derecho Sarbelio Navarrete se destacaba por sus dotes intelectuales y su vocación como maestro. Su tesis doctoral es un ensayo sobre el Estado Centroamericano, aplicando la doctrina del materialismo histórico de Marx, que él escribió antes del triunfo de la Revolución Rusa. Fue subsecretario de Instrucción Pública, juez general de Hacienda y rector de la Universidad de 1936 a 1 939, cargo que tuvo que dejar cuando el General Maximiliano Hernández Martínez suprimió la autonomía universitaria.

Abstract

The conference that follows was delivered by Sarbelio Navarrete at the opening of the University of El Salvador, on February 15, 1934, when it was not yet president. However, the professor at the Faculty of Law Sarbelio Navarrete was noted for his intellectual gifts and his calling as a teacher. His doctoral thesis is an essay on the Central State, applying the doctrine of historical materialism of Marx, even quntes the triumph of the Russian Revolution. He was undersecretary of Education, General Judge of Finance and President of the University from 1936 to 1939, a position he had to leave when the General Maximiliano Hernandez Martinez abolished university autonomy.
