Abstract

Within the framework of the centenary of the founding of the Editorial Universitaria, we remember the first issue of the scientific-cultural medium of La Universidad Magazine, which dates back to 1875. This magazine represents the initial effort of the editorial management of the university of El Salvador, since which was the first body to disseminate the scientific and cultural work of the academic community. The publication of La Universidad Magazine gave way to the founding of the University Publishing House on March 15, 1923, according to the "Official Gazette." In this sense, La Universidad Magazine awakens the interest of national and foreign intellectuals in publishing their research under its editorial seal.

Since that date, La Universidad Magazine becomes the symbol of the editorial work of the University of El Salvador, with flagship publications by authors such as Esteban Castro, Santiago I. Barberena, Francisco Gavidia, Alberto Masferrer, Sarbelio Navarrete, Napoleón Rodríguez Ruiz, Alberto Rivas Bonilla, Hugo Lindo, Miguel Ángel Asturias, Matilde Elena López, among others. Unfortunately, the magazine's archive is not complete; However, to date there are around 2,000 scientific articles published.

Currently, the management (2019-2023) of the Rector, MSc. Roger Armando Arias has promoted and renewed the goals of the University Press, since from the beginning of its functions it was projected to publish one book per month, in 48 months of management, the metrics have been exceeded; This includes the rescue of the periodical publication of Revista La Universidad - No. 3, July-September 2023 2 Revista La Universidad, which on several occasions was interrupted due to events beyond this house of studies. The University Editorial and Printing team has coordinated efforts to achieve the full realization of the Rector's objectives in editorial matters, achieving historic numbers in publications and promoting the scientific-literary figure of the University Press, to raise in the academic community the desire to publish their works in La Universidad Magazine.
