2016 Institutional Diagnosis is a contribution of the Secretariat of Planning to the debate and reflection on the current interna] and external situation of the University of El Salvador. Despite the high institutional and scientific potential, the following results were obtained: weak academic training of teaching staff, low scientific production, obsolete curricular design, weak link between university and society and low level of investment in the Graduate System. This diagnosis is an important contribution in the formulation process of the Institutional Strategic Plan, where the different sectors ofthe university corporation are expected to contribute, from an institutional perspective, to the design of strategies and actions that allow our alma mater to contribute significantly, to the solution of the great national problems. At the end of the document, the conclusions and recommendations are presented in response to the pro blems raised.
